Clik here to view.To say that I look forward to fellowship (read: geek talk) and coffee time with my brother and pastor Dr. Mark Harrod would be an understatement. So when one of us has to cancel, let’s just say that I’m not happy about it. Such was the case Tuesday. Mark texted me in the morning to say that he couldn’t make it (that nasty flu bug again!), and to ask if we could reschedule. I said yes, and we planned to meet Thursday afternoon. Sure, I was disappointed; I had much to tell him; but I understood.
What we didn’t realize then was that it was God’s plan for us to meet Thursday instead of Tuesday. You see, He had plans neither of us even knew about.
Early on in our conversation, in my peripheral vision, I noticed a man standing up behind Mark. What happened next was totally unexpected. The man didn’t leave the bistro area, but instead walked up to me and extended his hand. “Thank you,” he said, his serious eyes locking with mine. “God bless you,” were the words that came from my mouth as I shook his hand. “Thank you,” the man repeated, and then turned and walked away. Nothing else. I have no idea what the man overheard, but God knows, and God arranged for Mark and I to be at the right place at the wrong time for this man to receive it. To think that God ordained it before the world was even created is mind-boggling, but we are told in Ephesians 2:10 (AMP) that “For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].”
How cool is that?
So the next time your plans get changed, instead of becoming frustrated, perhaps you’ll remember this story. When we truly follow Christ, we can rest assured that His Spirit will always lead us to the right place at the right time.
In Christ’s perfect love,
Dwight
